
The greater Cleveland area is a playground of arts, culture, entertainment, and a nationally recognized system of parks. For those who do not have access to a vehicle or who may want to explore the area from a different perspective, here is a list of various activities and local attractions that are within walking distance to Cleveland's transit system.
Blue Line
Van Aken District
A new development in recent years, the Van Aken is a hotspot for entertainment on the east side. The new district features a number of restaurants, shops, and the revitalized market hall concept with indoor aforementioned attractions. The district is a popular venue for farmers markets, live music, and art festivals.
Shaker Towne Centre
This stop has access to one of Cleveland's very own Heinen's close to where the original location stood. The area also features a number of architecturally interesting city buildings including the public library and City Hall and surrounding residential neighborhoods.
Green Line
Coventry, Southington, South Park, Lee
All four stops are within walking distance to a number of picturesque parks on the border of Cleveland Heights. These parks include the Fairhill Road Rockefeller Park, Lower Shaker Lakes, and the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes.
Attleboro
This stop is just steps from the beautiful Horseshoe Lake and Horseshoe Lake Park. The park offers a looped path and various trails that follow along the lake and provide a picturesque view of the surrounding residential neighborhood and the thriving wildlife.
Green Road
The Green Road stop is the last on the Green line with access to the Beachwood City Park. The park features a looped path with fields and a dog park. No matter the season, this stop is sure to provide scenic views at every turn.
Red Line
Cedar - University
This stop is just a short walk from Cleveland Heights' Cedar Fairmount district as well Murray Hill and the University Hospitals campus. This stop is also one of two with access to the general University Circle area which is home to a number of museums.
Little Italy - University Circle
Located just at the bottom of the Mayfield Road hill, the stop is located within steps of the Little Italy district and University Circle's Uptown district. Within walking distance is the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland Institute of Art, and the historic Lakeview Cemetery. W. 25th - Ohio City
Just west of downtown Cleveland, the Ohio City neighborhood offers a variety of breweries, restaurants, cafes, galleries, shops, and the historic West Side Market. Check out our Neighborhood Series blog post: Why Live in Ohio City?
W. 65th St - Lorain
Less than a mile from the Gordon Square Arts District, this stop is a fantastic access point to the many theaters, restaurants, bistros, bars, cafes, and gift shops that the district has to offer. Gordon Square is also home to the 78th Street Art Studios which hosts artist markets every third Friday of each month in addition to an annual holiday market. West Blvd - Cudell
With access to Detroit Avenue, this stop is less than 2 miles from Edgewater Park and Beach as well as the shopping district on Clifton Boulevard where you can find a number of shops, restaurants, and cafes.
West Park, Puritas
Two of the last stops on the westbound red line, West Park's Kamms Corner shopping district is just a little over a mile from both locations and accessible to the Cleveland Metroparks. W. 117th
The stop at W. 117th currently provides access to a number of restaurants and shops along the main road in addition to the easternmost side of Lakewood. There are plans for W. 117th to develop a new neighborhood "offering the local LGBT community a central gathering place to live, work, shop, and play" as described in an article by Freshwater Cleveland. The transit stop will soon become a popular stop along the red line.
Convergence Destinations
Tower City (Blue, Green, Red)
Located in the heart of the Cleveland transit system, Tower City is a crossing with access to downtown Cleveland, the west bank of the flats, and within walking distance (with spectacular views) to Ohio City and the Campus District.
Shaker Square (Blue, Green)
Initially designed as a gateway to the Shaker Heights suburb, the square's design was inspired by 18th-century European royal squares with American Colonial-Georgian details to conform with the vision of Shaker Heights.
